Sacrum Profanum is a contemporary and alternative music festival in Kraków, founded in 2003 and organised by the City of Kraków and the Krakow Festival Office.
It sets out to build bridges between independent and academic music and to bring in listeners who have not tried new music before. Since 2016 its artistic director has been Krzysztof Pietraszewski, and the programme has grown to include exhibitions, installations, meetings and workshops. The 24th edition runs 6–11 November 2026. Its main strand, Rytuał, is six concerts inside an installation of painted textiles and figures by the resident artists Si On and Jakub Julian Ziółkowski at Cricoteka, with musicians from several parts of the world. Other concerts move to the Jagiellonian Library reading room and the courtyard of the Home Army Museum, and a free improvised march crosses the Old Town on 11 November. A new strand, Inicjacje, adds workshops and programmes for children. The site has an English version.
Contemporary music approached through context, place and other arts, to change how it is heard rather than to simplify it.
